PRODUCT INFORMATION AND APPLICATIONS
Listed below is our current product range with typical applications.
GLASS BEADS
Produced to BS6088, 10 standard sizes, 90% true spheres.
Suitable for blast cleaning and peening applications in both
pressure and suction units and for wet and dry blast applications.
The form and composition of bead give advantages over other forms
of abrasives such as the maintenance of dimensional integrity
of components and chemical neutrality. This is due to the peening
action of the bead rather than the abrasives action of angular
grits.
Applications are extremely diverse and include cleaning, removal
of dirt, grease, oxides etc. Also cleaning of moulds in the rubber,
thermo plastic and die casting industries. Ideal for surface preparation
or to produce an attractive non reflective sheen finish. Shot
peening is used for stress relieving and to increase mechanical
resistance to failure of components.
GLASS GRIT
Used for general light cleaning in pressure and suction machines,
mainly on die cast aluminium components.
Available in 3 sizes.
GLASS FILLER BEADS
Used in field windings to reduce the amount of resin used, also
specified for its ability to dissipate heat and to reduce weight.
Glass beads for this application can be supplied in size ranges
up to 10mm diameter.
HIGH INDEX GLASS BEAD
These beads have an index of refraction of 1.9 compared to glass
bead's normal index of 1.52. Available in a range of grades, the
most popular being 44-53 micron.
Used in applications where high reflectivity is required such
as road cone sleeves, reflective patches on clothing, reflective
paints etc.
BROWN ALUMINIUM OXIDE
An angular grit available in the full range of FEPA grades. This
materials angular particle shape is used to abrade surfaces for
the removal of paint, oxides, castings and machining blemishes.
Also to give a keying surface for painting, powder coating etc.
WHITE/PINK ALUMINIUM OXIDE
A fast acting angular abrasive available in FEPA grades, being
harder than brown aluminium oxide. It gives faster rates of removal
and can also be used for glass etching.
